A man who was stopped by authorities for speeding managed to avoid a ticket after blaming a Tesla Cybertruck.
Ethan Levy posted a video on TikTok to report the incident. “I was speeding, I was going really fast. I got pulled over by the police, the fourth time in my life I’ve been pulled over,” he begins in the clip.
“Then, the officer came up to me and asked, ‘Sir, do you know how fast you were going?’” to which Ethan replied, “Yeah, I was going like 19 [kilometers] over [the limit].”
In reality, Ethan was more than 30 km/h over the speed limit, which would have earned him a hefty fine. The officer then asked why he was driving so fast, considering the speed limit on that road was 80 km/h.
Ethan then came up with the most ridiculous excuse he could think of. “Out of nowhere, I say, ‘Do you see that Cybertruck? Well, sir, I didn’t feel very comfortable near it. I was afraid it might explode.'”
The officer then looked at the vehicle as it was “literally passing by” and said, “Well, Mr. Levy, that’s a pretty valid reason. I can see that fear.”
Since Ethan had never been ticketed before, the officer made a deal with him: “Here’s what we’ll do. I’ll go back to the car, check your license, make sure all your documents are in order, check if there are any warrants, if everything is fine. If everything’s okay, you can go on your way. Just be careful.”
Ethan added that “obviously everything was in order,” and he was allowed to drive off without a ticket. The video has already accumulated over 90,000 views and several comments from users shocked by the incident.
